The approach

A galley kitchen that opens up to the home

Galley kitchens make the most of a long, narrow space, but they can feel closed in. Here the units run along both walls towards a window, keeping the cooking zone compact, while an oak breakfast bar at the open end turns the kitchen into a place to sit, eat and talk.

The palette stays light and quiet: pale grey shaker doors, marble effect worktops and splashback, and a warm oak bar that links the kitchen to the living area beyond. Tall units keep the oven, microwave and fridge off the worktop.

Everything within reach

Hob, sink and fridge placed along the galley so cooking needs only a few steps.

Clear worktops

Integrated appliances and tall units keep the worktops free for preparing food.

A kitchen you can sit in

The oak breakfast bar gives a relaxed place to eat, linked to the living space.

Scope of works

Everything handled by one team

No separate plumber, electrician and tiler to coordinate. We managed every trade and every stage of this kitchen, in the right order.

  • Protection & strip out

Floors and access routes protected. The old kitchen removed and waste cleared from site.

  • First fix plumbing & gas

Water, waste and gas positions moved to suit the new layout. Gas work by a Gas Safe registered engineer.

  • First fix electrics

Dedicated circuits for the oven and hob, plus lighting and socket positions to the agreed plan.

  • Walls, floor & preparation

Plastering, making good and floor preparation, so units sit level and worktops run true.

  • Installation

Cabinetry fitted and levelled, worktops templated and installed, appliances integrated.

  • Second fix & handover

Sink, taps, lighting and finishing fitted, then snagged together before handover.

How we manage a kitchen renovation

Clear from the first visit to the final check

The part homeowners worry about most is not the doors or the worktop. It is living without a kitchen, the coordination between trades and whether the job finishes as agreed. This is how we run it.

  1. Site visit

We measure the room, check services and access, and talk through how you cook, eat and live in the space.

  2. Written proposal

A clear, itemised quotation. What is included, what is not, and who supplies units, worktops and appliances.

  3. Planning & ordering

Layout confirmed and lead times planned, so units, worktops and appliances arrive when the build needs them.

  4. The build

Protection, strip out, first fix, preparation, installation and second fix, carried out in sequence by our own team.

  5. Updates you can follow

One point of contact throughout. You know what is happening this week and when we need a decision from you.

  6. Snagging & handover

We walk the finished kitchen with you and resolve any points before we sign it off.

FAQs

Kitchen renovation in St John’s Wood: your questions answered

Can’t see your question? Call 020 3576 7307 or message us on WhatsApp.

How much does a kitchen renovation cost in St John’s Wood?

It depends on the size of the room, whether the layout changes, the condition of the walls, floor and services, and the units, worktops and appliances you choose.

After a site visit we give you an itemised written quotation, so you can see where the budget goes before anything is agreed.

Is a galley kitchen a good layout?

In a long, narrow room it is often the most efficient layout there is. The cooking, washing and storage areas sit close together, and an open end or a breakfast bar stops it feeling closed in.

Can you renovate the kitchen as part of a wider refurbishment?

Yes. This kitchen was part of a larger refurbishment, and we regularly combine kitchens with bathrooms, flooring and decoration. One team plans the whole programme, so each room follows in the right order.

Do you manage everything, or do I need separate trades?

We manage the whole kitchen: protection, strip out, plumbing, gas, electrics, plastering, flooring, installation and decoration. You deal with one team and one point of contact, not a kitchen fitter, an electrician and a plasterer working to different schedules.

Can you fit a kitchen I have already chosen?

Yes. We can install a kitchen from your chosen supplier, or source units, worktops and appliances within the agreed scope. Who supplies what is set out in the written proposal before work begins, and we coordinate deliveries and worktop templating with the supplier.

How long does a kitchen renovation take?

It depends on the scope, any layout or structural changes, and lead times on units and worktops. Worktops are usually templated once the units are fitted, so we plan that step into the programme. We confirm a realistic timeline after the site visit.

Can we live at home while the kitchen is being renovated?

Usually, yes. We protect the rest of the home, control dust and keep you informed about the days when water, power or access will be affected, so you can plan around them.

Which areas do you cover for kitchen renovations?

We are based in West Hampstead and work across London, including St John’s Wood, Maida Vale, Hampstead, Belsize Park, Primrose Hill and Swiss Cottage. Send us your postcode if your area is not listed.
