The approach

Character kept, everything else renewed

The house kept the features that give it character, like the exposed timber beams under the sloping roof, and renewed everything around them. Herringbone flooring runs through the hallways, living spaces and bedrooms, so the whole house reads as one.

The bathrooms are the showpieces. One has a walk in shower lined in large marble effect porcelain with a linear drain, a lit niche and brushed brass fittings. The other has a freestanding bath under a roof window. A brass framed arched glazed screen brings borrowed light into the hallway.

Herringbone throughout

One floor finish across every level, laid with straight, tight joints.

Bathrooms with brass detail

Marble effect porcelain, brushed brass brassware and wall hung fittings.

Rooms under the roof

Bedrooms and a study under exposed beams and roof windows, with fitted wardrobes and a window seat.

Scope of works

Everything handled by one team

No separate plumber, electrician and tiler to coordinate. We managed every trade and every stage of this renovation, in the right order.

  • Protection & strip out

Floors, stairs and access routes protected. Old finishes, fittings and waste removed.

  • Structural & layout changes

Walls, openings and structural work carried out to the agreed drawings.

  • First fix services

Plumbing, heating and electrics rerun to suit the new layout.

  • Plastering & floors

Walls and ceilings plastered, floors levelled and prepared for finishes.

  • Kitchens, bathrooms & joinery

Kitchen, bathrooms and built in joinery installed and finished.

  • Second fix, decoration & handover

Fittings, lighting and decoration completed, then snagged together before handover.

How we manage a full house renovation

Clear from the first visit to the final check

On a whole house project, what worries homeowners most is not the finishes. It is the coordination, the disruption and whether the job finishes as agreed. This is how we run it.

  1. Site visit

We see the property, check access, structure and services, and talk through what you want the space to do.

  2. Written proposal

A clear, itemised quotation. What is included, what is not, and who is responsible for what, agreed before we start.

  3. Planning & approvals

Drawings, approvals, materials and lead times confirmed, so the build runs in the right order.

  4. The build

Carried out in sequence by our own team, with each stage checked before the next one starts.

  5. Updates you can follow

One point of contact throughout. You know what is happening this week and when we need a decision from you.

  6. Snagging & handover

We walk the finished project with you and resolve any points before we sign it off.

FAQs

Full house renovation in East London: your questions answered

Can’t see your question? Call 020 3576 7307 or message us on WhatsApp.

How much does a full house renovation cost in London?

It depends on the size of the house, the amount of structural and layout work, the condition of the services and the specification of the kitchen, bathrooms and joinery.

After a site visit we give you an itemised written quotation, broken down room by room, so you can see where the budget goes before anything is agreed.

Can you keep period features like beams and fireplaces?

Yes. We plan around the features worth keeping, protect them during the works and make them part of the finished design, as with the exposed beams in this house.

Do you fit herringbone floors?

Yes. Herringbone needs a flat, level subfloor and careful setting out from the centre of each room, so the pattern runs straight through doorways. We prepare the floors and lay them as part of the renovation.

Do you manage the whole project, or do I need separate trades?

We manage the whole renovation: structural work, plumbing, heating, electrics, plastering, flooring, kitchens, bathrooms, joinery and decoration. You deal with one team and one point of contact.

How long will the project take?

It depends on the size of the property, the amount of structural work and lead times on materials. We confirm a realistic programme after the site visit and review it with you as the work progresses.

Can we live at home while the work is carried out?

Often, yes, depending on the scope. We plan the programme so you know when water, power or access will be affected, protect the rest of the home and keep the site tidy. For the largest projects we discuss at the site visit whether moving out for part of the build makes sense.

Do you deal with planning permission and Building Regulations?

We work with your architect on the drawings and approvals, and arrange Building Control inspections at the right stages of the build, so the work is signed off properly at the end. Party wall matters are handled through a party wall surveyor where needed.

Do you work in East London?

Yes. We are based in West Hampstead and complete full renovations across London, including Bow, Hackney, Islington, Hampstead, Kensington and Chiswick. Send us your postcode to confirm.
